Recertification Requirements

Eligibility Requirements

To recertify, certificants must:

  • Hold a current and unrestricted RN and NP license

  • Maintain active national NP certification (ANCC and/or AANP)

  • Have at least three years of dermatology NP experience

  • Have at least 50% current practice in dermatology

The DCNP credential does not replace your national NP certification.
You must maintain your NP certification to remain eligible to practice and to continue as a DCNP.


🔔 IMPORTANT UPDATE: CE Submission Changes

Beginning with the 2026 recertification cycle, certificants may submit continuing education for verification using one of two methods:

  1. Upload CE documentation directly through the DNPCB website, OR

  2. Continue using CE Broker to log and verify hours

CE Broker will be discontinued after the 2026 cycle.

Starting with the 2027 recertification cycleall CE documentation must be submitted through the DNPCB website, and CE Broker will no longer be an accepted option.


Recertification Pathways

You may recertify using one of the following options:

Option 1 — Continuing Education

  • Submit 60 hours of continuing education made up of contact hours and/or CME

Option 2 — Re-Examination

  • Sit for and successfully pass the DCNP exam before your certification expires

  • Enter and categorize CE hours

Recertification Timeline

  1. August 1 — Application Opens
    Log in to your online profile and begin the recertification process.

  2. Submit Required Documentation

    • CE uploaded in DNPCB portal or CE Broker (2026 only)

    • Complete online application

    • Pay applicable recertification fee

  3. Review Period (6–8 Weeks)
    The DNPCB Recertification Committee reviews documentation and CE activities.

  4. Notification of Approval
    All certificants will receive notification no later than December 15.

  5. Download Updated Certificate
    Once approved, your updated DCNP certificate will be available in your online profile.
